Three-Point Shot

by Stephen Curry

Master Steph Curry's legendary three-point shooting form and technique.

Step-by-Step Breakdown
1

Stance & Grip

Establish proper shooting foundation

  • Feet shoulder-width, slightly staggered
  • Knees bent, ready position
  • Ball on fingertips, not palm
  • Shooting elbow aligned under ball
2

Shot Preparation

Load up for the shot with proper mechanics

  • Bring ball to shot pocket
  • Elbow at 90 degrees
  • Guide hand on side of ball
  • Eyes on target (back of rim)
3

Release

Execute the shot with smooth motion

  • Push from legs, not just arms
  • One smooth motion - no pause
  • Snap wrist forward (not down)
  • Release at peak of jump
4

Follow Through

Complete the shooting motion

  • Hold follow through (goose neck)
  • Shooting hand reaches into rim
  • Guide hand stays steady
  • Land in same spot
Common Mistakes
  • Shooting from chest instead of forehead
  • Thumb on guide hand affecting shot
  • Not using legs enough
  • Inconsistent release point
